How our content is produced
Our jurisdiction and topic pages are drafted with AI assistance working from primary, named sources — IRS, HMRC, ATO, CRA, state and national tax authorities, and the published guidance of KPMG, PwC, EY, Deloitte, and the OECD. Every numerical claim carries an inline citation, and every page is reviewed by our editorial desk before it publishes. The AI-content disclosure sits uncollapsed at the top of each AI-assisted page. How professionals are verified
A profile only carries a verified badge once we have checked the practitioner’s claimed credential against the issuing authority’s public registry — the IRS PTIN directory, state CPA boards, the IRS Enrolled Agent roster, the Tax Practitioners Board in Australia, and the local equivalents elsewhere. Badges are date-stamped, and we re-verify on a recurring cycle. Listings are flat-fee; we never sell cold-call leads, and a paid tier never buys a better rating.
How we stay independent
TaxProsRated earns revenue from flat-fee professional listings, clearly labelled sponsored placements, advertising, and affiliate links. None of those influence our editorial ratings: software is scored against a fixed six-criterion rubric that is independent of commission rate, and sponsored content is always visually distinct and labelled per FTC guidance. Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes, and we want to hear about it. Use the “Report an issue” control on any content page, or see our corrections policy. We triage reports within 72 hours and publish a public correction note whenever we materially change a claim.
